IMPORTANCE OF KOLHAPURI SAAJ:

Kolhapuri saaj has special importance for Maharashtrian women. It is weared in traditional religious festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri and Diwali. In most occassions of Marraige in the state of Maharashtra, Kolhapuri Saaj is always preffered jewellery to be weared by maharashtrian bride. Kolhapuri Saaj is Handcrafted; It is made with jav mani (golden beads) or tarboose mani (lining beads). It may have 10, 12, 14 or 21 leaves depending on height of necklace. It may include Ruby, Emrald and American Diamond stone leaves (Panadi) to enhance its beauty.  The center part consists of a thread woven through these leaves and contains the pendant called Kirti Mukh. This Kirtimukh pendant of Kolhapuri Saaj typically contains a red ruby in the centre. It’s the good luck charm to ward off evil.

This traditional saaj consists of 10 leaves of different spiritual shapes including ruby and green color small pendants. This Saaj is having 10″ height excluding back thread (gonda) i.e. adjustable dori so that you can adjust it according to your neck.
